Wire Hoop Earrings

Material List for one pair of earrings:

1 ft 20 gauge ½ hard wire (goldfilled or sterling silver)
2 focal beads
3mm and 4mm goldfilled beads or sterling silver
Chain Nose Pliers
Round Nose Pliers
Flush cutters

Note: Measure your wire exactly the same length for each earring. Length depends on the size of the hoop you want. For this tutorial you will be using a 6” piece of wire for each earring. The finished size will be a 1 ¾” diameter hoop earring.

Step 1. Cut a 6” piece of wire and place the tip of your round nose down 1” on the wire.

Step 2. With your finger push the short piece of wire away from you and then the long piece of wire toward you.

Step 3. Keep pushing the long piece of wire around the round nose until both pieces of wire intersect each other. It will look like the end of the safety pin.

Step 4. Take your chain nose and turn up about 1/8” on the 1” piece of wire. This will be the closure end of the earring.

Step 5. Now load your long piece of wire with beads leaving about ¼” at the end of the wire.

Step 6. Now turn a loop sideways on the ¼” piece of wire. Now hook the two ends together and shape your earring. File the turned up end that passes through the ear. This is a comfort thing.
