DianneDianne Whistler - Pearl knotting, All Crossed Up Necklace, Beading Around a Cabochon, Cellini Spiral. Patty came to Virginia in 1994 from New Orleans.  She has dabbled in many creative hobbies including crochet, sewing, cross stitch and decorative painting off and on for almost 40 years.  When she got “hooked on beads” in her first class, Dianne pursued beading & taking a variety of local classes on a full time basis for a couple of years.  While primarily working with glass beads, semi-precious stones and pearls, she began to explore ways of incorporating various “needle bead-weaving techniques” and fibers in her jewelry creations.  Dianne has also included a variety of beading techniques in some one-of-a-kind purses.   Dianne’s work can be found at Plantiques in Newport News (look for Whistler Works Studio) and she also teaches beading classes at The Bead Store in the Hilton Village area of Newport News.

Blank ProfilePatty Musgrove -  Beginning Jewelry, Knot me bracelet, Needle Woven Key Chain. I began working with beads living in San Diego in the late 70s. I worked at
The Shepherdess and taught classes. The atmosphere in the store was
exciting and I soaked up as much as I could. My college training was
in metal jewelry construction, setting stones, etc as well as using unusual
materials for jewelry design. I was consumed with beads, weaving, polymer clay
work and combining all three. Also, I developed a huge 'stash' of beads.

When I moved to Virginia in 1990 my dad helped carry my boxes of beads up steep
stairs to my apt and he commented that I could open a store with what I had.
Soon the opportunity came and I opened the Bead Store in 1992. Since then I've
had the opportunity to learn from the best talents in our area and watch people begin and
then fly off in their creative direction.

Now that the store is Pam's I have time and energy to concentrate on
teaching. I love to watch people 'get it' and then apply their
own ideas to new mechanical skills. It's magic to see their skills grow and meet
their imaginations. I always come away with fresh enthusiasm for my own work.
