How to use a Crimp Bead

Materials:
21 strand Softflex
Assortment of beads
Clasp
Crimp beads (2)
Chain Nose Pliers
Wire cutters

Note: If you are using heavy stone beads use the 49 strand softflex. Also, if you are using a spring ring or a lobster claw for a clasp you will need to use a soldered ring for the other side of your piece.

Step 1. Do not cut softflex from spool. String your beads on the softflex add a crimp bead and your lobster claw.

Step 2. Pass the softflex back through about an inch (1”) of beads.

Step 3. Now take your chain nose pliers and smash the crimp bead. Do not crimp tight against the clasp or the solder ring. It needs room to move and this keeps the piece from breaking.

Step 4. Now cut the softflex from the spool with an extra 1 ½” of wire. Add your crimp bead and your soldered ring then go back through as many beads as you can. Hold your piece vertical so that the beads settle side by side with no spaces, then smash the crimp bead. Trim the wire with your wire cutters.
